Canada's affecting my brainspace

I'm in Montreal, Quebec at the moment.

2 of the places I've visited are the Parc National de Mont Tremblant and the Jardin botanique de Montréal. I've been blown away by the woodland areas of those places, and in general by the autumn colours here (we don't get pretty Autumn colour changes in Perth - leaves there are green, brown or dead). Apparently the reds are impressive even compared to other parts of Canada.

I wanted to paint a few environment concepts around the old 'enchanted forest' staple, with varying colour schemes and focal points.

For all that's said about cockroaches ruling the world after a nuclear holocaust; I'm pretty sure cats have a plan at the ready.

Some landscape concepts

 

I wanted to paint something like an open world game, where you look out from the ridge you've just climbed and see a few obvious points of interest you want to investigate.

Also trying to suggest a story: what with the seemingly dormant alien structure, the town that was built up around (now destroyed but not completely abandoned), and some others watching over it all.

Another sci fi effort of mine - I was thinking about the theory that all life was originally created by stars explodin. So as Chrisopher Hitchens put it; we are all created by stardust
